Roel rides the 2002 Yamaha XT 600. Because of his two left hands, his lack of time and being lazy, he bought the XT in “long-journey-ready-condition”. This XT was  already used for long-distance trips and already has some proper changes.

Main changes on Roel’s XT:

  • WP suspension
  • K&N airfilter
  • dynojet kit
  • Oil temp gauge
  • Oilcooler
  • 23 Litres Acerbis tank
  • Hepco and Becker pannier set
  • Heavy duty innertubes
  • Michelin allroads
  • Heavyduty chain
  • Sheepskin seat cover…..nice!

Power 44Hp
Torque 49NM

Empty weight 160 kilo
Tank 28 litres

Bas and Steve ride the legendary XT 600 Ténéné. Steve owns the earliest model 34L form 1983 and Bas has the 55W from 1985. The reason for buying the XT was simple: cheap, simple and robust. This aircooled, single cylinder with kick start is so simple, that it can be repaired anywhere in the world… least, that is what we hope. With her 28 litres tank she can ride almost 600 km without a fuel stop. The negative thing of buying an old machine is that it is old and that it needs a lot of maintenance. We did most of the changes ourselves without any experience and knowledge. We used a good manual and the knowledge, garage and tools of our friend Roger (aka the Black Elephant).

Main changes on Bas and Steve’s XT:

  • YSS suspension
  • New piston and pistonring seals (steve’s bike only)
  • Acerbis handguards
  • Heavy duty chain
  • Heavy duty innertubes
  • Heidenau allroads
  • Pannier rack, specially welded
  • Ammunition boxes
  • Oil temp gauge
  • Sheepskin seatcover…….nice!
