Saturday 30 january we had our farewell party in cafe the Heffer in Amsterdam. A fully loaded room with too many people to have a proper goodbye-chat with. A fantastic evening! Really great that you all came along to say goodbye and drank a final beer with us. And after that the absolute final beer, and after that the ultimate-absolute-final beer and ……..after that a headache.
We are really going to miss you guys!

The ride is the reason, the destination is the excuse….

Last night in Holland. Packed our bags, ready to go. Is everything sorted? Did we think of everything? Probably not….but we’ll find out later. Plan for tomorrow is to meet at Schiphol at eight in the morning, check in and get our final rabies injection….(Bas and Steve like a tight planning). After that a dutch “bakkie” with our friends and relatives who want to make sure we are leaving the country.

Around 11 we’ll fly to Houston….probably later because we forgot about time while drinking a final Dutch beer in bar Amsterdam. Once we arrive in Houston we have a rental car and hotel for the first days. Via horizonsunlimited.com we got in touch with some fellow US bikers who are willing to help us getting started. On of them offered his garage where we can uncrate our bikes and get them ready for the road. Some others also offered help…really nice to hear. On saturday we want to go to a sportsbar in our orange shirt to see Sven Kramer win gold on the 5 km at the Olympic games.  We’re also still thinking on going east first, before heading for Mexico. New Orleans has Mardi gras on tuesday, the biggest event a year. If you’re not familiar with it….google.

We’ll see. First make it to schiphol tomorrow.
